Quist
Quist is a concept project by fioel. The site of an interior design studio for houses, telling one family's house room by room around its long table.

The problem
A studio that designs whole houses for families has few projects to show, and each one is large. On a typical site it becomes one gallery among others, a grid of thumbnails with a paragraph above, and the visitor never feels how the house fits together around the way a family lives in it.
The reasoning
- 01
One house, told as a film
With a single house and one photographer's series, the site follows it like a film: it opens on the house through a window, then moves room by room.
- 02
The table at the centre
The family's long walnut table is in most of the photographs, so the house is told around it: the living room, the kitchen and the table, each with one sentence.
- 03
Pictures chosen for their move
The opening needed a wide, centred view; the card that grows to fill the screen needed upright rooms that still read in landscape; the list of places needed details. Each picture was picked for the movement it carries.
- 04
Quiet type, one accent
One grotesque at one weight on a bone ground, and one stone colour taken from the concrete and limestone in the photographs.
The solution
Quist's site opens with its name running through a slot while the page rises into a window onto the house, and the window then opens to the whole screen. A small card grows until it fills the screen, and the living room, the kitchen and the table pass into one another as you scroll.
Three features
- 01
The window
The page rises into a window onto the house and opens to the full screen on its own or on the first scroll.
- 02
Room by room
A card grows to the full screen and the living room, the kitchen and the table dissolve into one another as you read.
- 03
The places
A running sentence of the places in the house, each showing its photograph under the pointer.
